GENERAL DUTIES

I.T. Associates perform moderately complex professional work in technology-related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically I.T. Associates work in areas such as development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar functions depending on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include resolving complex technology problems and serving as a technical resource. They have considerable latitude for independent initiative and judgment and may have supervisory responsibilities.

I.T. Associates should demonstrate mastery of one or more technology-related disciplines.

The Department of Information Technology is seeking a detail-oriented full stack web developer with solid experience developing and designing web applications. The candidate must be proficient in Python and ReactJS as well as UX/UI Development, Web Accessibility and security standards.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Designing, coding, and modifying web applications, from layout to functionality
  • Develop new features into the CMS platform
  • Integrate applications with other Web Services (REST, SOAP, etc ..)
  • Supporting legacy applications, working closely with end users to troubleshoot bugs, implementing new features and refactoring.
  • Apply security principles and test application for vulnerabilities
  • Ability to work well with a team, and independently
  • Write data querying and data integration as needed
  • Practice disciplined software engineering (e.g. documentation, automated testing, code reviews, and writing readable code).
  • Adapting quickly to new web and application trends.
  • Actively contribute to team standards

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
  2. An equivalent of seven years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: seven years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus five years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus three years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position
  3. Demonstrated English Language proficiency
  4. A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.

This job has three levels. To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of web development experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Python and ReactJS
  • Experience in GIT
  • Experience in UX/UI Design Development
  • Experience in Section 508 compliance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with PloneCMS
  • Experience with Volto
  • Experience with Agile development

COMPENSATION

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.

After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.

If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.

Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.

The salary for this appointment is $89,639
