Scientific Assistant - Position 127335.
This position will be involved in food safety research with connections to the growing, harvesting, packing and processing of raw agricultural commodities (e.g. tree fruits, berries, grains, pulses, and vegetables). Work is rather diverse and will consist of lab and field-based research. Travel is necessary to remote locations and will require the individual to operate a motor vehicle. Lab duties will consist of cultivating, detecting, and enumerating Biological Safety Level 2 (BSL-2) foodborne pathogens on foods and from the growing, harvesting, packing, holding, or processing environment.
Position requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate related scientific or engineering discipline and 5 years' experience working in a food microbiology laboratory or equivalent education/experience. Ability to have a flexible schedule and valid driver's license are required.
