Project Director
UW-Milwaukee - Veterans Upward Bound Program seeks qualified individuals. Salary ranges from $48,333 to $60,000.
Job Summary
The director will be primarily responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing the curriculum services and activities scheduled throughout the year. Supervise project staff; assure the maintenance of project records and write and submit grants and annual performance reports. Utilize in-person, written and web-based information to recruit, and guide potential and current students. Provide academic advising to veterans on completing GED and entering college. Communicate with appropriate federal personnel to resolve any conflicting issues as needed. Manage annual budget and expenditures. Maintain database to track participants and evaluate the effectiveness of program activities. Maintain internal and external relationships and network with faculty, staff and departments in support of the program. Participate in TRIO conferences and workshops for professional development.Type of Appointment and Salary: This is a fixed term, non-teaching, academic staff appointment, including some evening and weekend hours. Transportation to and from target sites is required.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Education Administration, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field.
• Proven leadership and/or senior administrative experience
• History working directly with veterans/organizations serving veterans.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Education Administration, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field.
• A minimum of 5 years progressively responsible professional experience, demonstrated through advancement in responsibilities and/or position.
• Budgetary experience.
• Prior military experience.
• Familiarity with interpreting federal regulations and/or policies and procedures.
• Ability to work with a diverse population from different socio-economic backgrounds.
• Knowledge of and experience with developing advising services, and implementing curriculum services for nontraditional students.
• Evidence of strong interpersonal and written communications skills.
• Experience with grant writing.
• Working knowledge of database management or experience with on-line learning tools and programs.
