Instructor of Economics or Assistant Professor of Practice in Economics
The University of South Dakota’s Beacom School of Business seeks applications for an Instructor or Assistant Professor of Practice in Economics beginning in the 2023-24 academic year. The Economics faculty offer courses as part of the core for all undergraduate and graduate business majors as well as an undergraduate major in economics.
The successful candidate is expected to teach economics courses at the undergraduate level including managerial economics, money and banking, and principles of economics. A secondary interest in macroeconomics is desired. The successful candidate is expected to bring a unique and innovative educational experience to students through classroom teaching and mentorship. As such, there is the opportunity for student engagement through mentoring student activities outside the classroom. The successful candidate will be expected to teach classes on the main campus in Vermillion, SD, online, and in Sioux Falls, SD. Duties include an annual teaching load of eight courses.
A master’s degree in economics, business, or a closely related field. Candidates must have professional experience in economics, business, or a related field. Other requirements are proficiency in oral and written communication, and enthusiasm for engagement, service, and the public good.
Candidates with a graduate degree from an AACSB-International accredited business school are preferred. Previous teaching experience is preferred.
