Position Summary
The Financial Aid Office at St. Catherine University invites applications for an Assistant Director /Financial Aid Counselor.
Based in the Twin Cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota, St. Kate's is home to a diverse group of nearly 5,000 students in a wide array of disciplines and degree levels. The Financial Aid Office administers in excess of $100 million in student financial aid annually from federal, state, institutional, and private sources. The Financial Aid Counselor / Assistant Director will join a team with long-standing dedication to St. Catherine University.
The Financial Aid Counselor / Assistant Director serves as the expert for student and parent loans and manages the administration of the federal, state and alternative loan programs, ensuring timely delivery of student aid and program compliance.
Responsibilities:
• Manage the administration of the federal, state and alternative loan programs in order to ensure compliance set forth in regulation related to the application process, disbursement and reconciliation of loan funds.
• Process Direct Loan authorizations and alternative loan certifications, create loan records, generate Argos reports to resolve reject issues and discrepancies between awarded and actual loan amounts, manage AM8 process of file extracts and FTP'd through TD Client to the Department of Education's (ED) Common Origination and Disbursement ( COD ).
• Coordinate with Student Accounts the posting and reconciliation of authorized Federal Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Loans and Nurse Faculty Loan Program records. Identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Manage the electronic receipt and return of all federal, state and alternative loan funding for the University.
• Analyze and resolve discrepancies with loan records that prevent funds from disbursing; problem solve via email, phone and in person contact with borrowers, lenders, guarantee agencies and COD customer service.
• Monitor quality assurance component of the Direct Loans program by performing monthly reconciliation of COD cash receipt and refunds to ensure that the University's Banner loan records match ED's COD records.
• Provide loan & debt counseling and presentations including classroom and large group presentations and individual appointments with students to review information on the National Student Loan Database ( NSLDS ).
• Provide financial aid counseling, packaging, and file management to meet student needs and office and University goals. Counsel students and their parents concerning eligibility for federal, state, institutional, and private student financial aid programs.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree OR
• Four years of progressively more complex financial aid experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience working with federal, state, and institutional financial aid policies and regulations
• Experience with computer mainframe system and multiple software programs
