Spokane Airport - Payroll Specialist
Spokane Airports seeks a Payroll Specialist to join their team.
Examples Of Essential Duties:
- Collaborate with Human Resources department in the maintenance and integrity of employee, wages, accruals, benefits, and other information contained in software programs used.
- Ensure proper calculation of employee paychecks based on information received including gross pay, taxes, mandatory and voluntary deductions, and net pay.
- Understand federal and multi-state tax laws, remit funds to the proper taxing authorities, prepare and file quarterly and annual federal and state reports.
- Understand and properly record and post all deductions and remit funds to the corresponding agencies.
- Initiate ACH transfers of direct deposit payments along with creating a small amount of paychecks for those not utilizing direct deposit.
- Reconcile benefit invoices to enrollment records, employer expense accounts, and amounts withheld from employees.
- Reconcile payroll expense and liability accounts, identify anomalies, and propose correcting entries.
- Develop, maintain, monitor, and revise the formal documented processes in the payroll processing cycle.
- Assist in developing work-papers in conjunction with annual audit processes.
- Assist in ensuring new and current software is implemented correctly, updated regularly, and tested thoroughly before utilizing in day to day operations.
- Present reports, verbal and written, as directed.
- Assist, as directed, with the performance of other accounting department functions including A/R, A/P, and G/L
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or other related field; a combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the duties of this position may be considered.
- 5 years' experience in processing payroll including direct experience filing required payroll related reports and forms with State and Federal agencies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Payroll Certification.
- Payroll experience for an organization with over 150 employees.
- Experience with processing payroll subject to bargaining unit agreements.
