The Deputy Administrative Officer (DAO) for the Office of Government Relations reports to the Chief of External Affairs (CEA) and is designated as unclassified and at-will. The DAO is an executive management position and is responsible for a staff of 8 and an annual division budget of $3 million. As a member of the CEA's team, the DAO oversees the operation of the Office of the Office of Government Relations and overseas the work of assigned staff in Federal Government Affairs, State Government Affairs and Local Government Affairs. The DAO is responsible for the District's government relations, public policy strategy, and advocacy related activities at the local, state, and federal level. This position is based out of San Jose, California and has staff located in San Jose and Sacramento.
