Bi-Weekly Payroll Processor (#00538A)
The Office of Finance at Old Dominion University is seeking candidates for an Administrative and Office Specialist III position. This position will perform full range payroll processing including calculation, preparation, processing and reconciliation in an accurate and timely manner of the bi-weekly payroll and other special payrolls as needed for Old Dominion University classified employees.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
Considerable knowledge of accounting and/or bookkeeping skills. Working knowledge of payroll policies, procedures and processing. Working knowledge of payroll tax regulations, wage-hour regulations, State and Federal tax and garnishment laws and regulations concerning payroll and payroll deductions.
Some knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability with data processing systems and data entry on a mainframe computer and pc software applications (Excel, Word, etc.). Demonstrated ability to perform complex mathematical computations, utilize a calculator and computer keyboard. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people and to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
