Elementary Positions:
4th Grade
Elementary (K-6) Special Education Teacher
Desired Skills:
1. Ability to maximize the learning experience of students with special needs in academics, interpersonal skills, behaviors, and/or activities of daily living.
2. Ability to implement the district's approved elementary reading curriculum and interventions.
a. Experience or knowledge of Leveled Literacy Intervention, Stepping Stones, and Sounds Partners Curriculum a plus.
3. Ability to establish, implement, and evaluate behavior management techniques/plans.
4. Skill in using data to drive instructional decisions.
5. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
6. Ability to build positive relationships with parents.
7. Ability to work collaboratively with general classroom staff.
8. Ability to effectively lead IEP meetings to communicate individual learning goals to parents, teachers and administration as required by the student's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
9. Strong organization skills to maintain accurate and complete records as required by laws, policies, and regulations.
Elementary School Counselor
General Job Description:
1. Provide a developmentally appropriate and preventative guidance program for all students.
2. Communicate clearly and concisely, both oral and written, with school personnel, students, families and the community.
3. Facilitate the assessment of social-emotional competencies, and the development of social-emotional skills in individual and group settings.
4. Provide training and support to school staff regarding student mental health issues.
5. Monitor the overall effectiveness of social-emotional interventions.
6. Assist the building principal and staff with the development and implementation of behavior plans for individual students.
7. Serve as a contributing member of the district crisis team.
Qualifications:
1. Nebraska Department of Education School Counselor Endorsement.
2. Classroom teaching experience is preferred.
