Mine/Plant Equipment Operators

Site Overview:
Hibbing Taconite Company (HTC) is located in the center of Minnesota’s Mesabi Iron Range near the cities of Hibbing and Chisholm. HTC is owned by Mittal Steel (62.3%), U.S. Steel (14.7%) and Cliffs Mining Company (23%). Cliffs Mining Company is also the managing agent. Plant capacity is rated at 8.0 million tons of iron ore pellets annually.
Position Summary:
The primary function of this position is to operate equipment either in the Mine (Pit) or Plant processing environment. This may include, but not limited to dump trucks, front-end loaders, dozers and graders in the pit or the monitoring, cleaning, sampling and maintenance tasks associated with the operation of plant equipment.
- These positions may requires bending, lifting, climbing, and communicating via the radio.
- These positions require hand/eye coordination.
- These positions may require the maneuvering of large equipment.
- These positions may require working in a dusty and loud environment.
Qualifications:
- Excellent safety record and genuine concern for safety in the workplace.
- Solid work/school attendance.
- Recent heavy equipment operating and/or industrial experience is required.
- Must be flexible with work assignments; will assist other departments as needed and required.
- Must have an exceptional work ethic, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work in a self-directed team environment.
- Must also be willing to work a rotating shift schedule (Days, Afternoons, and Nights) with varying days off
Qualifications:
- Education: 2 year degree.
- Technical Skills: Experience Operating Heavy Equipment, or work in an industrial setting.
