Mechanic Aid
Assists mechanics in various major and minor mechanical repairs to all types of County vehicles and equipment used in highway maintenance. Assists in general mechanical work, such as performing brake repairs, services vehicles and equipment, changes oil and filters, preventive maintenance inspections and tire repairs and changes.
Operates such shop equipment as vacuum gauge, wheel balancer, drill press, jacks, air tools, and various hand tools and other equipment used in automotive and mechanical repairs.
• Maintains written records of repair and servicing of vehicles and equipment.
• Road tests vehicles after repair.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or General Education Degree is required. Specialized training in automotive and/or heavy equipment systems repair, which would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge, and ability required to perform the job is desirable. Must have a valid Washington State Driver’s License, Insurability by County’s insurance carrier.
Franklin County Public Works Maintenance Shop is seeking a Mechanic Aid. The position pays a starting salary of $15.04 per hour.
