Business Faculty - Accounting / Finance
DWU is located in Mitchell, South Dakota, a town of 14,000, nestled in the heart of one of the country’s finest outdoor recreation areas. Mitchell is the sixth largest city in South Dakota and home to the world’s only Corn Palace. The University is within an hour’s drive of Sioux Falls, one of the Upper Midwest’s larger statistical metropolitan areas. It is within a six-hour drive of several major metropolitan areas (Omaha, NB; Minneapolis, MN; Kansas City, MO).
Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Accounting and/or Finance at the anticipated rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The person who fills this position will join a business program that boasts the highest enrollments on campus and that is a university leader in developing and launching new programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. A CFP or CPA certificate is particularly attractive. Start date is August 12, 2019. Rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
The successful candidate will:
- Hold a terminal degree in an appropriate academic field (e.g., Ph.D., D.B.A.), or a master’s degree with relevant professional experience.
- Be prepared to teach some combination of the following courses: Cost Accounting, Individual Tax, Corporate Tax, Advanced Accounting, Investments, Insurance, Real Estate, Introduction to Business, and Business Ethics.
- Have demonstrable, successful experience as a teacher at the college level (or demonstrable promise thereof).
- Be comfortable with, or willing to learn, the use of digital technologies to enhance student engagement and learning.
- Be firmly committed to high quality teaching and to active, experiential, and applied learning and research.
- Be committed to mentoring students, including serving as an academic advisor.
