Construction Safety & Quality Programs Engineer
Based out of Bellingham, Washington, Dawson Construction is continuously improving, and we are looking for a motivated Construction Safety & Quality Programs Engineer to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their career in the field of construction safety and quality. Our Safety & Quality Programs Engineer will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of the Safety department function including providing direction, coordination and supervision of the company health, safety and quality programs and policies. This is a corporate position reporting to the corporate safety manager. Our ideal candidate is proactive, action oriented, and adaptable to change. Candidate must also carry out duties in varying work environments including wide-ranging weather conditions and terrain and be able to travel as required for projects. Overnight travel will occasionally be required.
Our Construction Safety & Quality Programs Engineer will:
- Ensure safety is an everyday topic that supersedes all other factors to prevent accidents and create a safe working environment for everyone.
- Ensure the Dawson Safety & QA/QC policies are constantly implemented throughout the organization.
- Work directly with the project team, subcontractors, and all other project stakeholders to ensure the quality program and initiatives are met
- Perform job site walks looking for safety and quality improvements and report to project superintendent and project manager.
- Schedule and perform safety and quality audits of construction activities,
- Perform root cause analysis and draft reports for safety incidents and non-conformance work, identifying preventive actions & implementing company wide.
- Provide formal and informal safety & quality training.
- Identify and track leading safety & quality metrics.
- Audit field operations for compliance with regulatory standards and the corporate safety & quality control programs.
- Bring ideas and enthusiasm to contribute to our pursuit of safety and quality excellence
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Safety/Quality and/or Risk Management preferred
- 2+ years of project engineering experience on commercial or industrial projects
- OSHA 30 Certification preferred
- Basic knowledge of construction safety, current Federal OSHA and WA DOSH requirements
- Basic knowledge of construction quality assurance and quality control concepts. USACE Construction Quality Management training preferred
- Ability to work effectively with a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and complex situations
- Ability to travel 15% of the time
- Fluency in Spanish preferred
