Patient is a 29-year-old female currently homebound, with an environmental illness. Live-in experience is required. Experience/knowledge of environmental illness, multiple chemical, and other sensitivities, and accompanying psychological challenges (anxiety, OCD, with bouts of depression) is preferred – or a strong desire to learn. The primary purpose of this position is to assist the patient to get well, in addition to the duties outlined here. Duties include being available to check on patient throughout the day, sleeping in the main house occasionally with the patient, food prep, cleaning of living space, some shopping/ordering, working with doctors; alongside patient’s requests, assisting patient with needs both personal and research-based, stringent fragrance – free standards, stringent uniform scrub standards. Full-Time – 40 to 50 hours weekly, with probationary (90-day) excellent compensation based on ability/experience, with salary increases, with full health, dental & vision benefits, as well as 401K Savings Plan, with two days off weekly and paid vacation. Will require live-in at property. Furnished cottage provided. RN, LPN, CNA, and/or Caregiver – all welcome. Long-term position - duties will evolve as the patient improves.

Female patient is looking for someone wanting to take on the challenge with her, of helping her recover wellness, while also assisting in everyday needs.
DIRECT PATIENT CARE
- Patient’s living space and entire property, including live-in cottage are a totally fragrance free and non-toxic environment. This is a mandatory requirement for this position. Approved products will be provided. This chemical/fragrance free lifestyle is required even on days off.
- No electrical/WiFi devices/battery devices are allowed around patient or in patient’s space and in certain areas of the home. No WiFi in the cottage, hardwired Internet service and laptop provided.
- Must be willing to shower/change at property prior to working with patient (all chemical/fragrance free products will be provided).
- Specially prepared/laundered scrubs or RN uniforms will be supplied and kept on property.
- This position is NOT a care sitting position. It is a wellness assistant position to aid the patient in achieving wellness.
- Experience/knowledge/patience in working with a patient with anxiety, OCD, and bouts of depression, which occur in chronic illness.
- Experience/knowledge or willingness to learn about environmental illness and sensitivities.
- Long term position is preferred as patient progresses and patient achieves wellness. Position will evolve into a companion assistant.
- Personality traits: calm, patient, kind, not overly talkative (as the patient tires easily), ability to nudge patient in a firm, but gentle way to accomplish goals.
- Must be supportive of integrative types of medicine: conventional, functional/integrative and holistic.
- Work with patient and family in conjunction with team of doctors to implement care plan as the protocols develop and patient slowly recovers.
- Be very kind and caring with patience, as the female patient has been totally homebound for 6 years due to severe sensitivities and extreme chronic fatigue.
- IV Therapy and blood draw knowledge preferable.
- Willingness and desire to gain knowledge in the patient’s multi-system illness and co-infections, and work in a setting of alternative/functional/holistic therapies, as prescribed by Primary Care Physician/Team of Doctors.
- Assistance with patient nutritional/diet.
- Patient will need daily reminders on protocol/manage daily checklist.
- Assist with hygiene needs.
- Cleaning/Organizing of patient’s living space daily/weekly.
- Happy and positive disposition is a must (lightheartedness)/patient has a kind, sensitive demeanor. Must create a space of safety, support, and positivity to help the patient heal.
- Patient requires majority of the day to be quiet downtime with lots of privacy in order to perform her healing mental exercise and rest. There are to be no long conversations, even when patient seems well. Monitoring will be short visits to access progress and complete protocol daily checklist.
- Gentle nudging, with light exercise and therapies, will help patient.
- Any additional tasks related to patient care, hygiene and wellbeing.
- Full Time 40 to 50 hours weekly. Work week consists of Wednesday – Sunday. Paid vacation, furnished cottage, and utilities provided (i.e. electricity, water, gas, basic cable, Internet and cell phone).
- American Express Credit Card will be provided for work related expenses, with monthly receipt submission to Executive Administrator.
- Vehicle will be provided for work related needs.
ADMINISTRATIVE/RESEARCH
- Ability and willingness to do health related internet research and copies of research for patient knowledge and review. Some personal research may be required.
- Organize all existing patient files, labs, etc. related to patient care. A file cabinet has been provided for this purpose. Request assistance, as needed.
- Office space and laptop in home will be provided for all research and administration. (NO WIRELESS on property – all internet is hardwired).
- Manage American Express Credit Card for ordering supplements/approved medications/supplies, as needed.
- Supervision of additional caregiver/CNA as required/vetting and hiring with family approval/and request additional help when required.
ABOUT THE PATIENT
The patient is a 29-year-old female. She has been ill for many years but does not like her illness to define her. She is realistically optimistic about the future and life in general. The patient enjoys the simple things, and her interests include reading/learning, nature/wildlife, organic horticulture, visiting with family & friends, arts & crafts, spirituality & yoga, and her pets. She likes to live a happy, lighthearted life, while also staying focused on her goals. The patient would like to find someone who looks at this position as more than just a job and is passionate about helping her get well. It is important to her to create an enjoyable and supportive environment for both caregiver and patient.
