Job Purpose
As part of Business Support Services, the Routing Analyst is responsible for applying analytical methods and tools to optimize customer routing, pricing, volume, and customer programs to ensure most efficient operations and customer service levels. This position will create, implement and monitor new routing solutions. Project lead directing database coordinators work on assigned projects. The Routing Analyst also assists in updating and maintaining database information (customers, vendors, products, routes, etc.) in all software systems for the company and in the implementation and monitoring of pricing plans, promotional plans, full service vending commissions plans, off invoice funding plans and customer programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Utilize Routing Software to build and restructure routes, analyze and determine the most cost-effective means of pre-selling and delivering customer orders.
- Maximize delivery efficiencies to ensure lowest cost while working within the constraints of large geographic areas, proper sequencing, balanced workload and customer/driver continuity.
- Ensure customer delivery parameters are accurate in Routing Software such as delivery windows and service times.
- Perform standard route maintenance in the Routing Software and other applicable systems.
- As the business changes with customers' seasonal variations in demand, partner with the sales teams to make necessary adjustments to routing to continue to maximize route efficiency.
- Ensure routing solutions comply with DOT hours and weight restrictions.
- Analyze commission impact on route changes.
- Develop, implement and monitor management reports that measure the cost effectiveness of the routing and the utilization of the applicable software.
- Monitor the adherence to routing solutions after session is completed using various reporting capabilities.
- Solicit feedback and build rapport with senior sales and other employees to troubleshoot issues and find workable solutions to challenges which may arise during the routing implementation.
- Subject matter expert for software and act as vendor's primary point of contact for new developments and modifications of software to best service company needs.
- Assist: Update and maintain the database information (customer, vendors, products, routes, etc.) in all software systems for the company and train sales staff on proper completion of documentation.
- Assist: Develop, monitor, and plan pricing strategies to optimize operational efficiency and customer invoice accuracy to reflect accurate and timely net revenue.
- Assist: Ensure forms from customer and vendors are received and filed: e.g. W9's, certificates for insurance, sales tax exempt forms and credit applications.
- Assist: Ensure case volume is accurate per sales system which is used for incentives, commissions, and funding.
- Assist: Ensure commissions are accurately reported to payroll
- Assist: Report volume to outside parties and submit funding requests as assigned.
- Subject matter expert for other applicable company systems.
- Submit other analytic reports to management which are used to understand route profitability and efficiency.
- Conform to all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment.
- Conform with, and abide by, and re-enforce all regulations, policies, work procedures and processes.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business or supply-chain management or 3-5 years experience in direct store delivery industry or comparable combination of education and experience.
- Highly skilled in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Experience with Routing Software preferred.

Physical Demands
- Work in an office environment; sustained posture in a seated position for prolonged periods of time; may utilize a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time.

- The noise level in the work environment can be moderately noisy due to manufacturing and/or
- Working hours vary between 8 am to 5 pm depending upon schedules and the season. Typical work week of Monday through Friday and approximately 40 to 45 hours per week. Additional hours may be required occasionally, and travel up to 10% is required.
