Accountant II
The City of Walla Walla is looking for a general accountant as a new member of the Finance Team. Job duties include reconciling balance sheet accounts, working with budgets, and supporting other departments. This position will help prepare the City’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and assist with annual audits. Please go to the City’s website to find a complete job description.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

2. Reconcile, prepare, and maintain assigned portions of the financial reporting systems, including but not
limited to fixed assets, grant receivables, general ledger, and permitting.
3. Enter data into systems, prepare reports, verify the accuracy, process transactions, and reconcile
journals to appropriate sources such as accounts, general ledgers, systems, registers, and reports.
4. Review various source documents and financial records for accuracy; ensure processes adhere to
established policies, procedures, and regulations.
5. Verify and compute changes to financial transactions.
6. Perform research, resolve issues and balance assigned responsibilities (e.g., systems, accounts,
registers); register discrepancies and errors; research and adjust irregularities to ensure reconciliation of
general ledger, register, and/or accounts.
7. Serve as the subject matter expert for assigned areas of responsibility.
8. Complete assigned portions of the City's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) with
proficiency.
9. Independently administer sound judgment regarding daily cash management operations requiring
attention to detail such as banking services, electronic payment services, online reporting, and cash
needs forecasting.
