This is your opportunity to become a member of an extraordinary organization and a dynamic department. The City of Fresno is currently looking for a skilled Airports Operations Specialist to join our team.
Under general supervision, performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance, repair and construction work on airport equipment, grounds, runway/taxiway complexes, aircraft parking aprons, aeronautical visual aids and associated infrastructure(s). Performs safety and security inspections of runways, ramps, immediate surrounding areas, and exterior fencing for compliance with FAA safety standards and reports and/or repairs conditions not in compliance. Incumbents operate and service a variety of tools and equipment. One vacancy currently exists in the Airports Department, Operations Division/Airside. Incumbents may be assigned to work any eight (8) hour shift and may be required to work holidays and weekends. |

The Requirements

These are entrance requirements to the competitive examination and do not assure a place on the eligible list. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications on or before the posted filing deadline in order to qualify.
TO QUALIFY, an applicant must have: - High school diploma or GED AND - Two years paid experience in asphalt and concrete pavement maintenance or construction work and building maintenance. Experience working around airport facilities is preferred. |

For Airports, eligible certified for consideration for this position will be required to successfully pass a Department interview, an extensive background investigation, and a Department of Justice fingerprint process prior to employment with the department.
The Airports position requires the possession of a valid driver's license at time of appointment. Candidates considered for hire must provide proof of a valid driver's license and current copy of their driving record. A valid California Driver's License is required within sixty (60) days of appointment. A valid Class B California Driver License is required within six (6) months of appointment and must be maintained for the entire term of employment in this class. |

Selection Process

The selection process will consist of the following:
WRITTEN EXAMINATION - 100% a job-related written examination will be administered to assess a candidate's knowledge in the following areas: knowledge of the methods, tools, and equipment used in disposal of international garbage and/or commercial construction trades; construction maintenance and repair work practices and terminology; safety; maintenance and repair of tools and equipment; tool identification and interpersonal & public relations. Candidates must achieve a passing score to qualify for the eligible list. The written examination is tentatively scheduled for the week of November 27, 2017. |

Veteran Preference Regulations
|
|||
Qualified veterans who pass the examination may obtain five (5) additional points.
Candidates applying for veteran's preference are required to submit a copy of their DD214 with their application during the specified filing period. Evidence must be presented to indicate that the candidate was discharged honorably from the military service. Veterans, including City employees, must resubmit proof of honorable service for every examination for which veteran's preference credit is requested. |
