CITY OF CUYAHOGA FALLS
The City of Cuyahoga Falls is seeking a highly qualified and exceptional individual for the position of Superintendent of Parks and Recreation.
Job Objective
This position requires a dynamic leader to perform complex professional and administrative work in planning, organizing, directing and supervising all recreational divisions and facilities in addition to being responsible for labor relations and all phases of the departmental operation, budget and management. The Parks and Recreation Department has the responsibility of maintaining and expanding the city’s 25 neighborhood park sites.
The Department also operates the city’s public recreational facilities such as Brookledge Golf Club, Downview Sports Center, Water Works Family Aquatic Center, Quirk Cultural Center, and The Natatorium Health and Fitness Center. The Superintendent of Parks and Recreation is appointed by and reports to the Parks and Recreation Board. The position also reports to the Mayor/Safety Director and no other positions share this reporting relationship.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation or related field; at least ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience with five (5) of those years being in supervisory and administrative responsibilities; and a minimum of five (5) years successful experience in charge of one or more enterprise profit centers; or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Master’s Degree and Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) or Certified Park and Recreation Executive (CPRE) are preferred.
Additional Information
Candidates must be a non-smoker and non-tobacco user, including but not limited to cigarettes, cigars, pipes, snuff, etc. for the duration of their employment with the City of Cuyahoga Falls.
This position serves at the pleasure of the Park Board. Compensation package includes medical, dental, prescription drug, vision, and life insurance, pension benefits, paid vacation and other time off.
Starting annual salary is $95,334.
