Position Summary
This position will primarily teach required First-Year Composition courses for students with diverse literacies and contribute to the implementation and enhancement of Cascadia's First-Year Composition program. In addition to teaching classes, duties include working with diverse students one-on-one and collaborating with full-time and part-time faculty members and Learning Center staff members to develop common curriculum and assessments.
The successful applicant will have the following qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. from a regionally accredited college/university in Composition, Rhetoric, Writing Studies, or Literacy Studies; OR Master's degree or Ph.D. in English with coursework in Composition, Rhetoric, Writing Studies, or Literacy Studies.
- Successful experience in teaching First-Year Composition courses for diverse learners, including multilingual students, dual-enrolled students, students with disabilities, underrepresented minorities and/or other special populations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to pluralism and the ability to support a diverse workplace and educational environment.
- Successful experience teaching First-Year Composition college students who have limited experience with academic discourses OR who are learning English as a second language OR who are high school students taking college courses.
- Experience with developing and assessing common composition curriculum and instruction, especially curriculum and instruction that promotes collaborative learning for diverse students.
- Experience developing and/or teaching hybrid classes, online classes, OR multi-modal or digital assignments.
- Coursework and/or experience with composition theory, literacy development, language acquisition, and/or writing program administration.
- Experience with interdisciplinary teaching and learning.
