Benton PUD is accepting applications for an IT Support Specialist in our Kennewick, WA location. The primary purpose of this help desk position is to maintain & support all District software applications, computers, networking, printers, VDI systems, and educate employees in the use of those systems. Accountabilities and Essential Functions IT Support Specialist I:

  1. Support the District’s mission to serve our customers and foster a positive workplace by personally choosing behavior aligned with our values and ethical code.
  2. Support the District’s desktop/laptop computers and peripherals by performing set-up, maintenance, and testing; troubleshooting; applying upgrades; and providing training and advice as needed.
  3. Maintain the District’s anti-virus defense on desktop computers and VDI by timely application of updates to anti-virus software and provide first-response to virus concerns from District employees.
  4. Maintain inventory of District hardware by updating the tracking database and monitoring users systems for unauthorized software.
  5. Maintain access rights to network resources by responding to approved requests and escalating unusual requests to IT management for review.
  6. Support the District’s strategic technology plan by evaluating hardware and software options and making recommendations.
  7. Support the District's Help Desk System by responding to the District's trouble ticket system, phone calls, and users walk-in request.
  8. Complete special projects and other duties as assigned to meet team, department and organizational goals.
Additional accountabilities for IT Support Specialist II:
  • Implement, upgrade and maintain the District's anti-virus defense on desktop computers and servers by timely application of updates to anti-virus software and provide first-response to virus concerns from District employees.
  • Maintain patching of workstations by utilizing MS Configuration Manager and following District policies for patching.
  • Support the District's VDI deployment by set up, maintenance, and testing; troubleshooting; upgrades; and provide training and advice as needed.
