Job Opening Position: Seasonal Laborer
Opening Date: May 13, 2019
BMID operates and maintains an irrigation system that serves over 3500 acres and operates and maintains a potable water distribution system serving over 1,600 residents.
Job Summary: An employee in this classification will be required to do basic labor work.
Typical examples are: digging, minor pipe repair, cutting grass, laying sod, weeding beds, cleaning, patching roads, painting, and other manual tasks. This employee may perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: A current Washington State Driver's License with a good driving record. Reliable transportation to and from work. High School Diploma or GED equivalency. Ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs over rough terrain and to perform heavy manual labor in all weather as required. Ability to climb up above-ground water reservoirs as needed.
Desirable Qualifications: Reasonable knowledge of work methods and equipment involved in public works construction and maintenance. Reasonable mechanical knowledge and ability in operating tools and equipment. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral directions. Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse conditions. Ability to work independently without constant supervision in accomplishing assigned duties. Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees. Ability to adapt and improve methods and procedures in performing assignments.
Desirable Qualifications: Basic knowledge of techniques, procedures, and safe practices associated with water utilities. Experience with plumbing, pipe fitting, underground utility construction, safety procedures such as confined space entry, trenching/shoring techniques is helpful.
