Employment Specialist
The Arc of Spokane is seeking individuals to support persons with developmental disabilities in finding and maintaining employment. Working as part of a team you will assist in the full employment cycle for our clients.
This includes working closely with our clients and their advocates to identify client skills, strengths, interests and support needs. This may entail facilitating planning meetings and taking a primary role in leading the exploration of employment possibilities and using the input of the client and/or other meeting participants to construct a thorough picture of the individual's employment opportunities and goals. You will create a written service plan for each client that describes the strategies and specific steps that lead to finding and/or maintaining successful employment. Additionally, you will develop job placements, assessment opportunities, and volunteer work sites through building relationships with employers. You will assist in resume preparation, application processes, and interview skills to match people with developmental disabilities to jobs in the community that fit their needs and abilities, ensuring success for both the employee and the employer. Finally, you will assist clients in maintaining attendance, communication, and mastering their job responsibilities; coaches may also arrange transportation for their clients.
Qualified candidates will possess initiative, creativity, strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and keen organizational skills. Additionally, they will demonstrate patience, integrity, diplomacy, and sensitivity to the needs of our clients, will be able to work independently as well as in teams, and will be committed to the idea that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are valuable employees and make significant contributions to the workplace. A sales/marketing background is helpful. Flexible schedule, work hours are driven by client needs and may include nights and weekends.
Must pass required background check, have valid driver's license, insurance and reliable transportation. Full time 40 hours per week; $14.50 to $16.68/hour DOE.
