Safety Professional

This is a mid to senior level Safety and Health position. The role of Safety Professional is to provide guidance to project teams, working to proactively find solutions, and support our projects throughout the course of construction. The Safety Professional needs a passion for the continuous improvement of a safety culture, focused on care, compassion and compliance, plus a desire to connect with team members at all levels in the organization. We recognize that our industry is inherently hazardous. For this reason, keeping our employees, their families and others safe is a top priority for AEI. This position reports directly to AEI Safety and Health Manager.

Job Responsibilities

  • Compiles and keeps all required jobsite safety records, safety manuals, SDS and accident forms that are required by contract, insurance companies and relevant governing agencies.
  • Conducts regular on-site inspections of construction projects and active manufacturing facilities.
  • Observes workplace conditions and makes necessary recommendation for corrective actions regarding health and safety.
  • Submits daily, weekly and monthly reports.
  • Oversees and works with regional area superintendents and managers to record weekly job site safety meetings. Attends to give feedback and presentations.
  • Reviews and investigates accidents, incidents or serious injuries occurring and notifies the Safety Manager and management of pertinent details.
  • Carefully analyze reports from accident investigations to ascertain causes.
  • Coordinates with Safety Director and safety personnel as it pertains to worker’s compensation and other safety issues. Communicate and manage claims with focus on stay at work program and experience modification rate.
  • Evaluates hazardous conditions and practices and develops hazard control practices and programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, or demonstrated equivalent and related experience/education.
  • Possess current valid driver license.
  • 5+ years of experience in a health and safety role.

Desired Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of construction safety work rules and relevant OSHA requirements and regulations including, OSHA Part 1910 and 1926 Safety requirements, NEC, NFPA and ANSI standards for construction and DOE 851 requirements.
  • Capable of coordinating many projects and managing teams and correctly identifying the existing
    personnel to support projects.
  • Ability to effectively train in an adult learning environment
  • Establishes and maintains client relationships
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation is preferred.

American Electric is a Drug-Free workplace. Candidates must successfully pass pre-employment and random drug screens. Wage rate range is between $53.15 to $65.62 depending upon experience and qualifications. This position includes paid vacation and holidays.
